FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AN APPOINTMENT?

On the day of your appointment, you will receive a text to let you know Dr Yee is on the way.  If she is running late, she will let you know.

Each appointment typically lasts for 30-60 minutes.

Once Dr Yee arrives, she will discuss the process and answer any questions you may have.  She will complete any paperwork that needs to be done.  When you are ready to proceed, the sedative will be given to your pet.  This is a combination of pain medicine and sedation that will help your pet become very sleepy, which usually takes 5-15 minutes.  This is sometimes done in two steps (depending on the pet).  Once your pet is in a deep sleep, Dr Yee will give the medicine to help your pet pass.  At this point, she will give you and your family some time alone with your pet for final goodbyes.  If you chose cremation, Dr Yee will bundle your pet for transport.  For larger pets (over 40lbs), she will need your help to transport your pet into her car.

WHAT ARE THE AFTERCARE OPTIONS?

There are many choices for aftercare for your pet.

You may choose to bury your pet at home.  There may be specific laws/regulations regarding this.  Please check with your local or city regulations regarding home pet burial.

You may choose to have your pet cremated.  There are two types of cremation.  Communal Cremation is when your pet is gently placed with other pets for cremation.  Cremated remains will not be returned.  Private Cremation is when your pet is the only pet in the chamber during the cremation process.  You can be assured that you will only receive the cremated remains of your pet.  In either case, Dr Yee will transport your pet to our home office for coordination of cremation services.
